HAWAII-Hilo

We pulled into Hilo, on the big island, around 6am, we had to get up so early I was so tired. We finally got off the ship around 930am or so (it takes a while to clear the ship once were at the port). A group of us went to this place called Rainbow Falls, we kind of hiked a tiny bit, actually I wouldn’t even call it hiking, it was a small pathway and we climbed a bunch rocks to get pack to this reservoir type thing that led into the waterfall (which wasn’t very big because it hasn’t rained very much I guess). Anyways, the reservoir thing had like this decently sized cliff, probably like 30-35 feet high…we all jumped off of it and went swimming in the reservoir for a while, it was SO beautiful…I’ll try to post pictures of it when I have time and when I get free internet, the internet here is so ridiculously expensive and we only get 2 hours free. We left rainbow falls and walked a mile or so to eat at this local drive in type restaurant and ate lunch…it was really good I got the ahi sandwich. We then went to black sand beach, there were TONS of SAS kids there. It was so much fun and so pretty. The beach literally had black sand, and next to the sand was a bunch of rocks where everyone was hanging out on. All the SAS kids were hanging out on the rocks and drinking. There are so many cool people here from all over, its so cool meeting everyone. There were also whales that were literally like 15 feet out in front of the rocks, it was SOOOO cool. Every 15 minutes or so whales would jump, it was so amazing to see. I didn’t get any pictures, unfortunately, because you didn’t know when you were going to see one and they would only come up for a few seconds. There were also sea turtles that were swimming around near the rocks, it was really cool. We went swimming in the ocean and took a bunch of under water pictures on my friends camera. We went back to the ship later in the day to change and we (my friends Olivia and Brooke) went out to dinner at this Mexican restaurant, its supposedly like the best Mexican restaurant in town. After dinner a bunch we went out to this bar called shooters…it was where all the SAS kids went. There were honestly at least 100 SAS kids there. It’s so funny, everyone knows when the SAS kids are in port. The next day we had to be back at the ship a little early and we didn’t want to be late so we got there early because you get dock time at the next port for 3 hours if your late so we didn’t want to risk it and see how crowded it would be. We went out to lunch that day at this cute restaurant called Ponds I think…it was literally over this pond and you could look down out the window at all these really pretty fish. Then we went to the beach again, it’s so nice to be in warm weather. After the beach we went to the ship to leave that night to go to Honolulu. I went to bed so early that night on the ship, I was exhausted from Hilo. I woke up the next morning and we were docked in Honolulu. I’m so tired right now and I want to get ready for bed. I’ll write more about Honolulu and ship life tomorrow hopefully. Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything.
